So I finally filed a formal complaint today about the ongoing issue at work. It was very difficult for me to do but I knew it had to be done. Once I turned it in I wanted to get as far away from work as possible. I grabbed my friend Tamara and we headed out to an early dinner at P.F. Changs. I arrived before her so I sat in my car talking to my friend Kim about my work issue. As I am talking to Kim I see this car backing up and notice that it is getting really, really close to me. I turn around and I don't seen anyone in the car. I figured it was either the angle I was looking or that a little old lady was driving. As I am getting out of my car I see that there is in fact no one in the car... and then watch it slam into a brand new Escalade. Thankfully it just missed my car!! The owners of the Escalade came out about 3 minutes later -- they were visiting from Chicago and were about to get back on the road and head home. The car that hit them was an old, beat up Buik. I looked inside and noticed that the car wasn't even in park...it was in DRIVE!! I opened the door (it was not locked) and put it in park and applied the emergency break. The car was soooo digusting...l filled with cigarette butts. I gave my story to the police and then went on to dinner. What a wild experience!!
This picture was taken with my phone after we pushed the car forward.

Twilight

I finally saw the Twilight movie. I had been looking forward to seeing this movie since I finished reading the book. (I managed to read all four books over the course of week during Christmas break). My friend Jane had been trying to convince me to read the book for months. I was convinced that I would not like the books. The book was about vampires and I had no interest in reading about vampires. Well I was wrong.. and I ended up getting hooked on the books (hence reading over 2,000 pages in a week!). The movie was good (not as good as the book, but isn't that always the case?!) and I enjoyed seeing visuals of the characters and places I had read about. I am now looking forward to the next movie. And in the meantime, I may have to watch Twilight a few more times so I can admire Edward some more!!

Dilemma at Work
I have been having a really difficult time at work lately. Actually, the past year has been rather difficult. I won't get into any of the details here because the issues are still ongoing and pretty intense. I will say that it has not been easy and I have been struggling with what to do. I do know that what has happened is wrong and that something does need to be done about it. The question is, will I be supported and what will be the final outcome? All I know is that I am ready for it to be over and resolved.

We're on a Winning Streak...
The Canes won both games this past weekend! Friday's game appeared to be an easy contest but it quickly turned ugly! At the end of the first period the Canes were up 2-0. At the end of the second period we found ourselves down 4-2. Yes, the Islanders scored 4 goals in the second period!! Thankfully the Canes got their act together and scored 3 in the third to go on to win it 5-4!!
Saturday's game against the Capitals was equally as exciting! The Capitals had been on a roll and are (were) having a great season thus far. With the playoffs looming on the horizon I knew this would be an intense game. The Canes played so well and beat the Capitals 4-1. Ovechkin, who I cannot stand (he wears gold shoe laces and a tinted visor on his helmet) had a complete melt down at the end of the game and threw his stick and tried to break it unsuccessfully over the boards. He then tried to slam the door closed and it kept popping back open. I think I enjoyed his melt down more than the win!!
The Canes have since won twice more and are on a nice little winning streak. Let's hope it continues!!

Finally a Birthday Celebration!!
Tonight I celebrated my birthday with some friends in Raleigh. I was finally feeling better and we were able to pick a night that worked for everyone. We went to dinner at McCormick & Schmick's. I had eaten at their locations in Boston and DC. Our meal was really good and we had a great waitress. After dinner Jane and I went to the mall to do a little shopping. I ended up exchanging a bag at Coach. I had purchased a red purse during the winter yet I never used it. Since I hadn't used it I figured I would exchange it for a spring bag. Jane convinced me to pick out a pink/lavender color. I am still not sure I can pull this bag off or not... I guess I will test it out one of these days. It was just so nice to get out and to be with friends. That cold/bug I had really knocked me out for a good week and a half!

Hockey Filled Weekend!

I love hockey... I know, that is nothing new nor a big surprise to anyone. So the fact that I have hockey games both Friday and Saturday night this weekend makes me extremely happy. I love everything about the game. From the speed of it, to the physicality, to the players, I enjoy each and every minute. I grew up going to the Hartford Whalers games with my family. We had season tickets and I have so many found memories of going to the games with my dad. I am so happy that Raleigh has the Hurricanes and that I have season tickets. Friday night the Canes face off against the Islanders. On Saturday night they host the Capitals. I am really looking forward to Saturday night's game as I cannot stand the Capitals. If the weather is nice we will tailgate before the Capitals game and make a day of it. This weekend is going to be great... especially if the Canes win both games!!
