The Black Hills are absolutely beautiful this time of the year. The other day the area got about 5" of snow so it looked like a winter wonder land. Snow clung to all of the tress and it looked so pretty. Ryne and I went out and helped his dad feed the buffalo. I brought my camera along with me to get some good photos of the buffalo. This time of the year the buffalo will let you get pretty close since all they care about is hay and eating. I got some great pictures of the family homestead. It was such a nice, relaxing day.

Dinner and Movie
Ryne and I did dinner and movie night. We had dinner at Angela's, which is so good! We always eat there when I am in town! And the have the best mugaritas!! Yes.. margaritas in a mug!! After dinner we went to see Grand Torino. It was a good movie and we had a great night out on the town. When we came back from the movie we then watched last night's episode of Damages. I LOVE that show! It is soooo good!! If you haven't seen it, you really need to check it out.
Tomorrow night we are headed to the Black Hills for the weekend. I am looking forward to a nice long weekend!

Hurricanes Practice

This morning I popped into the Hurricanes practice at the Rec Zone. This is their practice rink they use when the RBC Center is in use. I love going there because you can get up close to the ice and after the practice you can meet and talk to the players. This was the first practice I had been to all season. I'll have to try to catch a few more before the season ends.

Hurricanes Season Ticket Holder Party

Tonight was the Hurricane's annual season ticket holder party. They offer an array of things to do at the party and provide food and drinks. Players are broken up into groups of 4 and scattered throughout the arena for autograph signings. And of course they are very strategic about which players they pair up together. In the past we have only been able to make it through one table of players due to the crowds. But this year we made it through three tables and we were able to visit with some of the players. Unfortunately Scottie Walker was not there (he has a concussion) and I never made it to see Sergei Samsonov. After the autograph session I toured the Canes locker room and then listened to the state of the Canes address. It was a fun night and I enjoyed hanging out with my hockey boys!

Cole's Birthday and the Super Bowl

What a busy day it was today!! I spent a good chunk of the day cooking and making appetizers for both Cole's birthday and the Super Bowl. My plans were to go to Cole's birthday (close friend's son) for a few hours since it overlapped with the Super Bowl. For Cole's party I made a baked brie with raspberry preserves (made by my mom!). I love baked brie and have been making it for a lot of events lately!! My friend John was hosting a Super Bowl party. For his party, I made my mom's famous hot cheese dip and Oreo brownies. Since I was not going to make it John's until after half time the plan was to meet up so I could give him the food I prepared. That turned out to be so complex and complicated -- which is true of anything you do with him!! In the end it never even made it to John's since they didn't do the cake and presents for Cole until after halftime. By that point I was just ready to go home!! It will still a fun day...although very crazy!!
I will say that I was rather disappointed with the commercials this year! And the game wasn't all that exciting either -- probably because I didn't care who won. Oh well!
