Happy Birthday, Dear Sheila! Happy Birthday to You!!

We did lots of celebrating for my mom's birthday this weekend! Robert came to the Cape for the weekend and since he had to leave early on Sunday, we celebrated my mom's birthday on Saturday. That morning Emily, Dawn, and I baked a cake. It was very hard to keep it a secret as it is next to impossible to keep my mom out of the kitchen!! After a day at the beach and a boat ride, we grilled out for dinner. Emily was so excited to light the candles and bring the cake out for my mom!!

On my mom's actual birthday we packed up the boat and went to the Outer Beach. This is a strip of beach that you can only get to via boat of if you have a special permit for your vehicle. Right now the Outer Beach is closed to cars due to the Piping Plovers -- they are nesting and baby birds are hatching. We had a great time at the beach even though the water was only 60 degrees!!! I has to help my dad with the anchors for the boat, which required me to go into the water several times... and at one point up to my chin! My body became numb after about 2 mins in the water!!

After the Outer Beach we took my mom out to dinner for a nice, relaxing meal. We went to Captain Elmer's which had really good seafood! It was a very nice and relaxing day.

Today was the last of the birthday celebrations for my mom. Both of my parents go to water aerobics every morning. They have made lots of great friends there so my dad planned to surprise her after aerobics today. Dawn, Emily, and I picked up a cake and brought it to the gym. We picked out a chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting. It was by far one of the best cakes I have had in a LONG time... so yummy!! Normally after they are done with their work out, they all gather for coffee. When my mom came around the corner she was so surprised to see us there with a cake and presents. She got lots of gag gifts....several of which prompted Emily to ask, "what's that? What do you with that? Why did Sheila get that?!" It was hard trying to come up with some answers!!!

Up next is my dad... his birthday is this Friday! And of course there are some surprises in store for him!!
